What is My HIV Story?
My HIV Story is a storytelling and community platform created to reduce stigma, build understanding, and provide a safe space for people living with HIV to share their experiences—on their own terms. Some stories are shared publicly to increase visibility and awareness. Others are held privately within our membership community to protect safety and confidentiality.
Do I have to share my HIV status or my story?
No. There is no requirement to share anything. You are welcome to: Read, Listen, Observe, Engage at your own pace. Your comfort and consent come first.
How is confidentiality protected?
Confidentiality is a core value of My HIV Story. Member conversations are private. Screenshots, recordings, or sharing outside the community are not allowed. Content shared by members remains private unless explicit permission is given. The community is actively moderated to maintain safety and trust.
How much does membership cost?
The core membership is $9.99 per month. This helps support: Platform maintenance, Community moderation, Content creation, Long-term sustainability. You can cancel at any time.
Who is this platform for?
My HIV Story is for: People living with HIV, People newly diagnosed, People who want to understand life after diagnosis, Loved ones seeking insight and compassion. You do not need to share your story to belong here.
What content is public vs. private?
Public content includes: Approved interviews, YouTube episodes, Awareness and educational content, Stories shared with explicit consent for public viewing. Private content (membership-only) includes: Member-to-member conversations, Community discussions, Personal reflections shared by members, Dating, disclosure, and support conversations. Private community content is confidential and not shared publicly.
Is this a medical or treatment platform?
No. My HIV Story does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment guidance. Members may share personal experiences, but all medical decisions should be made with a qualified healthcare provider.
Who created My HIV Story?
My HIV Story was founded by Linda Pearl, a leader, educator, and creative who believes that storytelling, dignity, and community are essential to healing and visibility.
